Overview: This is a cruise hosted by the Chicago 5th Gen / Chicago Next Gen club. Starting line is at Mars Cheese Castle in Kenosha. THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM LAST YEAR - We will NOT be meeting at Jelly Belly unlike previous years. Jelly Belly is closed due to COVID, so there's no reason to start the cruise there. Because of this, we will begin meeting at Mars Cheese Castle in Kenosha at 9:00/9:30am and will depart for the cruise at 10:30am sharp! Mars Cheese Castle is open (masks are required to enter) and is available for you to stock up on your Wisconsin cheese, sausage, beer, and snacks before we depart for the cruise. We will depart Mars Cheese Castle at 10:30am sharp and cruise to Lake Geneva via country highways and tree lined Rustic Roads while admiring our Wisconsin scenery. Glacial hills and winding roads and a whole bunch of fun are included on the route. We will be traveling at a safe but brisk pace.

There will be two stops on the way to Lake Geneva: First is at Bushnell Park in Burlington for some photo-ops and bathroom break. Second is in Lyons for a fuel stop.  Arrival in Lake Geneva is approximately 1:30pm. Approx cruise length is 61 miles.

The end destination is the Lake Geneva Eastview Elementary School Parking Lot.  If you would like to join Chicago 5th Gen / Chicago Next Gen club for lunch, they have lunch set up at Gino's East for $19 per adult for non-C5G/CNG members. Details regarding payment can be found on their website: Here.

You are not required to eat with the group. Once we are in Lake Geneva, you are free to explore or eat on your own. You will find me (Andy) at the Geneva Lake Brewing Co.

This is a rain or shine event!

General Rules:

  • Always keep a visual of the Camaro in front of you AND behind you.  If the Camaro behind you starts to create a larger gap and is driving slower - you need to slow down before they lose sight of you.
  • Maintain a safe distance between cars.
  • If you have a walkie talkie, maintain regular status updates.
  • If the leader of the group must pull off to the side of the road to allow others to catch up, turn on hazard lights, and pull off the road in a safe manner.  Once the group is caught up, the last car must pull out into the road first and flash their lights to let the others know it is all clear.
  • Drive in a safe and legal manor. Wisconsin Camaro is not responsible for any reckless and/or illegal driving - it is the responsibility of the individual driver.
  • Respect the neighborhoods/towns we drive through.
  • Lastly... HAVE FUN!!

How to Load Cruise Maps into Google Maps (Android)

Wisconsin Camaro uses a program online called Google My Maps to create the cruise maps we follow in our cars.  We've tried many phone apps and have not had good luck...

To follow along in a cruise (or if you get lost) we recommend downloading the cruise map to your phone beforehand and follow along as you drive.  This will create a blue route overlay onto Google Maps that you can follow and "trace the steps".  Unfortunately Google Navigation does not work with this custom created route - so you'll have to keep your eyes on the map every once in awhile.

It is STRONGLY recommended that you place your phone into a phone holder in your Camaro and have a means of charging it.  The cruise leader usually sets their phone's display to "never turn off".

The directions below show you how to load the map into Google Maps if you have an Android phone (iPhone & Windows phones may be similar).

Step 1: Click/touch the map hyperlink in the cruise event page. Select your gmail account you use for Google Maps to open.

Step 2: Map will open in a new browser. Click/touch the name of the map on the bottom of the screen (circled here in red).

Step 3: The following menu opens.  Make sure both boxes are checked. If they aren't the map on Step 2 would be blank.  Close the window/browser.
